The Witcher 3 – a ramble through the darkness – discovery and escape from the elven ruins


If you want to navigate yourself by the ruins of the mission “hiking in the dark”, you need to know how symbols you need to search

With the quest “The witcher 3 hikes in the dark” you have teamed up with an old friend and form one of the main squares in “the witcher 3”. She builds on the mission “a witch hunt” so that she hopefully creates this if they are here if not, clarify that before reading read and anything.

The search for a witch is part of their initial search for Ciri and makes them known with the Keira Metz magic. Meet her and she will talk about how she is visited by an elfenmagier who asks for an ashblond woman, which means Ciri. To see how you find them is basically the jumping point of the game. Understandably, Geralty would like to find out the elves to find out more about what causes them to open the Hexer 3-Quest “Hiking in the Dark”.

If you do not go with Keira, you have to meet her with the Elfenruins by traveling there. For this reason, we recommend that you supply yourself with everything you need before completing the witch hunt, so that you and Keira can teleport yourself as soon as possible to the ruins.

Follow Keira

Go with Keira. The ruin is full of many different booty and herbs, so lot to your heart’s content!

  • If you do not have it yet, we recommend that you have brewed the cat’s drank so that you can see in the dark, rather than having to wear a torch everywhere, as we did. It sucks. Do not do it.

If you and Keira go in, you will see something that makes your blood cold. An intermediate sequence shows that the wild hunt, the evil that is behind Ciri is here and she does not seem to be interested in playing the same rules.

Follow / not follow Keira

Watch Keira opens the portal, but make a decision: Will you follow her through the portal? If you do not, you will see Keira go through the portal, disappear and then hear you scream. The portal is then closed and they remain down.

  • If you follow Keira, you will be brought to a separate room and have to fight through drowning and fog to get there again where you were before. Only there you can hear Keira for help. Additional prey and experience are never a bad thing.

Find Keira

Regardless of where you are, you need to use your witcher senses to determine where Keira is located. This can be found by using a red circle in the background.

Follow the red circle. You will probably encounter some enemies. So make sure that they are on the hat.

Follow the circle until you hear Keira cries for help. It is located in a room to the right of the place where the portal was originally occupied, and is surrounded by a monster that frightens even the worst enemies.

Kill the rats and destroy their nests

After she had confessed Keira and had caught about vermin, she could extinguish with a fingerless and turn to work on these devilish monsters. After you have defeated them all, go to a higher level where the rat nests are located.

To get rid of the rat nests, we recommend using a bomb or if you do not want to use resources, the Igni character.

  • When you insert bombs, make sure you get the right ones. You can find out this by going to your inventory. Bombs that nests can destroy will specify this in their description.

As soon as this is done, Keira will receive a brief explanation why the portal did not work. It will also require you both to go as soon as possible, but Geralt refuses this obviously.

Keira will be convinced, no matter what dialogue option you decide, but if you want to romance you later, that may not be absolute madness.

Discover the elven ruins

After talking to Keira, go to the next room and discover what looks like an illusion, or how Keira expresses it, like a morphotic projection.

  • A morphotic projection is only a fancy phrase for a magic projector.

Keira will explain that this projection shows the elf, after which you are looking for. After a short warning, the eleven will mention the name Zirael, the eleven word for swallow.

For Keira, this will not mean, but Geralt, the Ciri knows so well, will know that this means the name of Ciris Sword.

As soon as Geralt two and two adds, they will find that they have to follow the symbols of the swallows to move through the ruins.

Pay attention to the swallow symbols

You will arrive in a huge cave where you can see toxic gases and ghosts everywhere. Unfortunately, you have to sneak through the Wraiths and past the gas to find the first swallow symbol.

  • If you have a torch, equip them now, as dipping into gas clouds with a torch is a quick way to blow them into pieces. Instead, distribute the gas with Igni. It returns, but at least you have control of when you can use the gas to your advantage.

Do not stay anywhere after fighting the first spirits. Instead, turn off east and go in this direction until you encounter a stalagmite on which a symbol for a swallow is located. If you are lost, equip the flashlight (away from the gas) and it should be easy. Keira even comments when you are nearby. So be patient and careful.

Once you have found this first swallow, go directly to the north and you will eventually encounter an area where you have to climb to get to a higher level. Do this, and Keira will follow them.

After all, you get into a small corridor. Continue straight ahead until you can cancel to the left. As soon as you enter the octagonal room at the end of this corridor, you will find another projection of the elfenmagier.

Find Kelpie

With this projection, the elfenmagier gives another hint that is much clearer than the last: find kelpie.

Kelpie is the horse of Ciri. As with the swallow symbols, you must find a symbol in the form of a horse.

  • There are other symbols in this room, such as a dog. Do not examine these symbols as this triggers an explosion that brings you to fly, or ghosts that are similar to Geralt and Keira.

Ignore the symbols around you. Align your attention instead of the octagonal hole in the middle of the room. Spring down into the water and right in front of you you can see Kelpie.

This is a good indication that you have to drive under water. Follow the card until you hit a wall, and then swim to the surface.

  • If you do not have the cat potter, make the underground sequence in almost complete darkness. Use the card to make your way through the underwater tunnel as well as possible.

Once you have moved out of the water, go straight ahead until you see another Kelpie icon.

If that is found, it checks and you will hear Keira upstairs at the top of the cave, that in the room where you originally were, has just opened a passage. Join in again and enter the new room.

Activate the portal

If you go into a new room through the new gear, you will find a huge icon for a swallow, a chalk edged door and another symbol for a swallow next to it.

Examine the smaller swallow and she activates the portal. If you visit Keira, you will be brought to another room. This time, however, something is waiting for you.

Configures the Golem

The moment you enter the new room, a Golem is activated as a defensive mechanism so that you and Keira can compete.

  • Golems are weak against elemental oil and dimeritium bombs. Use them accordingly and you should be fine. For signs, we recommend rather quen as Axii, as Keira often dealt most of the stunning for you.

When the golem is defeated, search the scaffolding and climb on it.

Hunting for the wild hunt

When you drive along the passage, finally reaches a part where the way to the left and right is shared. Go to the left because the rights lead to a trap in which you have to fight a gargoyle.

If you go to the left, you will take another Schwalbenportal. If you check it, you will be brought to the place where the wild hunting happened before the glitches of the portal.

Continue and you will notice that some of the guards of elfenmagier were frozen by the magic of the wild hunt.

Go straight on until you reach a room on the left side. There, an intermediate sequence is triggered. It shows Keira and Geralt, which just arrive in a chamber in time, to see that the wild hunt opens another portal.

They will eventually go, but not before one of them opens a portal to The White Frost, a catastrophic winter, which freezes everything he comes into contact.

It is up to you and Keira to close these portals and inform yourself at The Wild Hunt.

Property Keira

Keira sets a shield under which you can both stay while you go to each open portal. The only problem is the following: wild hunting dogs are always impinging outside the portal and strives to lay them down both.

  • Stay in Keira’s shield, no matter what you do. Leaving the building may mean safe death depending on your health.

Use QUEN to have more opportunities against the dogs. The portal is finally closed and you need to do the same for the last two portals.

Follow the wild hunt

If you have closed the portals and calmed Keira, leave the chamber and let Keira open a locked passage. Go through the passage, turn left and enter another chamber in which a lonely wild hunt warrior is waiting for you.

Configures Nithral

Nithral is a powerful enemy, but his attacks are incredibly slow as he has a two-hand weapon. For this fight we recommend to duck yourself as well as possible and to weave him.

  • The best sign of this fight is QUEN because the use of AXII will only stun for one or two seconds before Keira throws him directly from the game. We love you, Keira, but for God’s will…

With the soaks we used thunder wedge, which increases your attacking power so far that you can take a large part of his health when you evasive and attack behind Nithral.

But do not be too comfortable, because half of the struggle will summon Nithral a protective bubble to heal itself. Worse, he will call the game Hunt more dogs to deal with them.

Liberate quickly from the dogs, as Nithral depends on how long you need to send the dogs to heal until full health.

  • Nidrals do not attack bubble. Otherwise, Geralt is thrown back and they lose part of their health.

When the dogs are finished, Nithral grabbed until he is finally dead than a Doornail. Plunder his body and search in the chamber for more information.

Listen to the projection

If you explore the chamber, you will encounter another projection. He will tell Ciri that he should meet where they were meant together, which looks like Geralt as a dead end.

But that’s not all he mentioned: The witches of Crookback Bog should be avoided, but considering that Ciri has “argue” with a witch, you could be the best leadership.

Find a way out

You must find a way out of the chamber by looking for clues. You will find them with your witchers, but apart from the wall at the end of the chamber, none of them is really important.

It turns out that the wall is an illusion that can only dispel the eye of Nehaleni. Fortunately, Keira simply carries this charm with him and gives you yours.

Turn it on the door and follow through the chamber. At this point, you can either say goodbye to Keira or get your miracle lamp with her. No, that’s not euphemism.

Either way, hiking in the Dark ends and her next quest is coming up.
